Defining Aico’s Employee Value Proposition
In this short article, Aico’s Employee Value Proposition is revealed! Spoiler alert: it’s got everything to do with encouraging growth and promoting work-life balance.
Aico’s recently updated values - togetherness, sustainable growth and continuous learning - are at the core of Aico, and we work hard to build them into our working lives.
In addition to defining our core values at a company level, we wanted to create our Employee Value Proposition (EVP) to really get to the heart of Aico and share it with you.
Before starting this project, we wanted to ensure our values represented what we felt as employees and hoped reality reflected our wider aspirations.
Because we wanted to be sure, the time for defining Aico’s own EVP was perfect.
Now, before diving deeper into the topic, if someone is reading this and wondering “EVP what?”, we’ve got you covered.
An EVP is about capturing the essence of a company. What does the company stand for, and why are people proud and inspired to work there?
An intriguing and unique EVP helps an employer stand out from the crowd and catch the attention of potential talent who are a match with the organisation’s predefined talent profile(s). Not only that, but it also boosts employee engagement and improves employee experience to some extent. A lot of expectations for one phrase, right? 😉
It takes a village
To ensure that our EVP-to-be would truly be something that Aiconauts could relate to, we made sure we included all employees as well as the leadership in the process from the beginning to the end.
In December, Aiconauts from across the globe gathered at our Espoo HQ to celebrate the approaching holiday season. Naturally, such a rare opportunity could not be wasted and so we organised a company-wide EVP workshop over breakfast.
As everyone tucked in, they wrote down the things they loved best and valued the most about working for Aico on post-it notes. Certain topics kept showing up.
The things Aiconauts considered to be best about Aico (in addition to monetary compensation) were:
- Personal development and growth opportunities
- The chance to have an impact and the feeling of doing meaningful work
- Freedom and flexibility
- An open-minded culture and helpful colleagues – the “all for one” mentality
After the workshop, our Employee Ambassadors got together to summarise the results. Based on the findings, we crafted a number of EVPs. While brainstorming, we came up with close to 60 variations but ended up narrowing the list down to 8 phrases.
We shared these phrases with Aiconauts and asked them to rank the options according to their liking. Our leadership team looked at the results and since there were no clear objections to any of the statements, they agreed that the most popular option among Aiconauts should become Aico’s EVP.
Introducing Aico's EVP
“Encouraging growth and promoting work-life balance”
What does this mean in practice, then?
We appreciate that, for someone to stay curious and on top of their game, a healthy work-life balance is vital.
We realise that individuals have varying needs, so one model does not fit all. To help Aiconauts better achieve an ideal work-life balance, we offer them plenty of freedom and flexibility to define their own work.
By providing our customers with a solution to eliminate some of the pressure and lighten the workload of manual tasks and deadlines, we also increase their possibilities of maintaining a healthy work-life balance throughout month-end closing. A win-win situation for everyone involved with Aico!
For Aiconauts to stay motivated and eager to learn, we listen closely to their wishes about areas they want to develop. We believe that having your peers rooting for you builds up the whole team for success and so we challenge each other to stay open-minded, feed creativity and collaborate across teams. As a company, we won’t settle for anything less than becoming the leading financial close automation software provider.
That is what we promise our employees to experience at Aico. If that’s something that resonates with you, we hope that your path will cross with ours in the near future.
